Performance Plan

Hemsworth Town Council’s Annual Performance Plan replaces the Best Value Performance Plan that has been produced over the last few years.

Best Value was introduced in the Local Government Act 1999. It was implemented by all principal local authorities including the Police, Fire Services and larger Town and Parish Councils.

Following the passing of the Local Government and Public Health Information Bill in October 2007 the statutory duty of best value has been removed.

Notwithstanding this the Town Council remains fully committed to delivering best value in all aspects of its service operations and has agreed to continue to produce a Performance Plan in future years, despite no legal requirement to do so.

Therefore this Performance Plan is the principal means by which the Council, and elected members, will be held to account for the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of its services and for its plans for the future.

This Plan includes the overall aims of the Council and a description of all the services the Council provides. It also sets out general objectives in delivering those services, identifying key targets for the financial year and service performance indicators.
